Former Super Falcons coach, Ismaila Mabo, has tipped the team to scoop the CAF Women’s National team of the Year award.
The reigning African queens are listed alongside Cameroon senior women’s national team for the coveted award but Mabo reckons the Edwin Okon damsels stand a far better chance to emerge victorious.
“I think the Super Falcons deserve the honour. They did so well last year to deserve the award and I won’t be surprised if they emerge victorious”, Mabo said.
He added: “First they are current holders of the African Women’s Championship trophy, they also defeated Cameroon in the AWC final and have one of the finest players from the African continent at the moment.
“So, I won’t be surprised if they win the award, it will be a good omen not only for the team but Nigeria in general”, he stressed.
The Glo CAF Award ceremony will take place at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, on Thursday January 8, 2015.
Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala is among the players listed in two categories of the award, having been listed for the Young Players and Player of the Year awards categories.
