…As NBA Draft Holds June 25
By Bamidele Boluwaji:
Former Los Angeles Lakers star, Magic Johnson, will be glad to see Nigerian-born Jahlil Okafor being drafted into the team after they were drawn in the second pick of the 2015 NBA draft of the league's annual lottery on Tuesday night.
The Nigeria center, who led Duke to the national championship as a freshman, is a hot cake in the draft and he could be drafted to either Minnesota Timberwolves or Los Angeles Lakers in the main draft scheduled to hold on June 25 at the Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets.
Following Lakers poor season, Magic Johnson realised that they need a big man like Okafor to help the team regain its lost glory in the NBA.
"With the #2 pick, we can get a great big man that can add some good efforts this summer & we will be right back as a contender next season!" Magic says on his twitter handle.
Meanwhile, 6-foot-11, 270-pound Okafor, who is projected along with former Kentucky center Karl-Anthony Towns to be the top two picks entering the draft, is eager to play in the NBA.
"I don't know that I should go No. 1," Okafor told SI.
"I don't care. I just want to go to the right environment for me and the right team. I think the hype about No. 1 is more for the fans
