–Says NFF Technical Sub Committee Chairman, Chris Green
The chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), technical and Development Sub Committee, Chris Green has described FIFA’s decision returning Alhaji Aminu Maigari to office as president as a deserved justice.
According Green who also had his one year ban nullified by FIFA said that the world football governing body has done the right thing by ordering that Maigari who was illegally impeached by the executive adding that hopefully all the differences will be settled in the interest of the game.
According to Green FIFA has done justice to the matter and that he felt they should thread the part of peace by respecting their decisions but only for Chief Mike Umeh to disregard the decisions.
A statement by NFF image maker Ademola Olajire had quoted Chief Mike Umeh as saying that Maigari resigned as president on August 12 and as such cannot be restored as president
Barrister Green said it was wrong of Umeh to have disregarded FIFA decisions on the matter adding that the issue of Aminu Maigari resigning does not arise because the man was “dismissed” by the NFF board.
“The truth is that Maigari did not resign. How can he resign when he was allegedly impeached? Do someone who had be dismissed come to resign? The arguement that he resigned is not not and it is very pedestrain. I challenge them to present the letter in which he resigned” stated the Rivers FA chairman.
He pointed out that what they should be doing now is to plan for the elective congress slated for August 26 in Warri in Delta state and not banning and unbanning perceived opponents.
“What we are saying is that all those who are qualified for election should be allowed to do so. You cannot just disenfranchise people just like that.”
