Nigerian striker, Anthony Ujah, needs to score a goal to relive pressure according to FSV Mainz’s sporting director, Rouven Schroder.
Ujah has seen 205 Bundesliga minutes of action in five league games since he rejoined the club from Chinese Super League side, Liaoning Whowin in January and has failed to score.
“Anthony Ujah has shown good form in training in the past week for the first time since arrived at the club and his situation can be resolved by scoring from now on,” Schröder told German website Kicker.de.
Ujah has been included in Mainz’s matchday squad for Sunday’s German Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig and he will be looking forward to making his sixth appearance.
Mainz are in the relegation battle heading into the final three games of the season and must pick up points against Leipzig to be sure of their safety.
Mainz are in 15th position in the German Bundesliga table, level on 30 points with two other teams, Wolfsburg and Freiburg.
The last meeting of both clubs in the Bundesliga in December 2017 ended in a 2-2 draw.
