Man City Set New EPL Record, Ndidi Stars In Leicester Win; Iheanacho Out

By Johnny Edward: David Silva scored twice for Manchester City who recorded a new record 15th successive win in the English Premier League thanks to a 4-0 win over Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

No side in Premier League history had ever won 15 straight league matches.

It was the third game in a row that David Silva was scoring for City. Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero grabbed the other goals in the encounter for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Silva gave the Citizens the lead in the 27th minute. De Bruyne doubled Manchester City’s lead with a right-footed free-kick from the left wing into the bottom-right corner.

In the second half, Silva bagged his brace with a superb lob over the oncoming Lukasz Fabianski before Aguero made it 4-0 to seal Manchester City’s ninth away win of the season.

At the Saint Mary’s Stadium, Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi made his 17th start of the season for Leicester City who recorded their fourth consecutive win in the English Premier League on Wednesday by defeating Southampton 4-1.

Three first half goals from Riyad Mahrez, Shinji Okazaki and Andy King secured a seventh win in the campaign for Leicester City and moved them to eighth in the EPL table with 26 points from 17 games.

The game was Ndidi 34th since he joined the club in January. Leicester City are now unbeaten in their last seven Premier League away matches and have already equalled last season’s paltry total of two wins on the road. Super Eagles stars Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho were not listed in the match day squad for the Foxes.

At St James Park, Newcastle United suffered their third straight defeat at home, losing 1-0 to Everton in the EPL. The Magpies who are without a win in their last eight games were behind after 27 minutes when Wayne Rooney poked in from close range the winner.
