Man City Vs Swansea: Monk Not Fooled By Pellegrini Injury Woe

Garry Monk says Manchester City have the depth to cope with their significant list of absentees ahead of today’s clash with Swansea City.

The defending Premier League champions could be without four first-team regulars as they look to reverse a poor run of form at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men have won just one of their last six matches in all competitions and were held to a 2-2 draw at lowly QPR prior to the international break.

The hosts – who face Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday – are likely to be without the injured Aleksandar Kolarov (ankle), while captain Vincent Kompany (calf), David Silva (knee) and Edin Dzeko (calf) are also doubtful.

However, Swansea boss Monk insists City have the squad to deal with such problems.

Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini refuses to give up on the Premier League title despite his side’s slow start to the season.

Last term’s champions are already eight points behind league leaders Chelsea after 11 games, leaving them playing catch-up in the chase for the league crown.

But Pellegrini said there was still a long way to go, maintaining hope his team can still reel in Jose Mourinho’s men.

“Now is not the moment to analyse what has happened in the season,” the Chilean told Sky Sports News on Wednesday. “There are a lot of games to play in the Premier League and Champions League.

“We have 27 more games to play and there are a lot of points [to be contested] so we will see at the end who will be the best team this year.”

Pellegrini was inducted into the League Managers Association’s Hall of Fame having guided City to the title in his first season in charge.
