Marseille star Dimitri Payet insists he is fit to face Atletico Madrid in Wednesday’s Europa League final despite concerns over an injury.
Payet who has been in fantastic form for the French club this season was left out of his side’s 3-3 Ligue 1 draw with Guingamp last Friday as a precaution after picking up a muscle problem.
He has however expressed his readiness to face Diego Simeone’s men in their most important game of the season.
“I’m much better. I think I will be fit,” he stated in a news conference on Tuesday ahead of the game.
Payet admits Marseille are likely to be the underdogs against a team who have been in two of the last four Champions League finals.
“They have the experience but we’ve studied our opponents and we’ll know how to take them on,” he said.
“We might not be able to play beautiful football throughout but the main thing is to score one more goal than them.”
