Seattle Sounders forward Obafemi Martins has revealed that he is pleased with the performance of his teammates in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Portland Timbers.
Martins who bagged his 10th MLS goal of the season in the encounter was delighted at the awareness displayed by his teammates withstanding an onslaught of pressure from their Cascadia Cup foes that saw the Timbers outshoot the Sounders in the dying seconds of the game.
Martins continued in his scoring spree in the United States as he scored his 10th goal of the season in Seattle Sounders 2-1 win over rivals, Portland Timbers late Sunday night.
Martins poked a loose ball past Portland goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey to give his side the lead in just the sixth minute.
Brad Evans scored the other goal for Sounders from the penalty spot before half-time as they picked up their second victory of the season over their Cascadia rival.
Seattle started the day in seventh place and outside of the playoff picture, but pulled into a tie with San Jose for sixth with the victory.
Sunday’s win for Sounders is their 12th of the season which sees Seattle moved back into a playoff spot.
Martins’ Seattle are now sixth on the log with 38 points in the Western Conference
“Very pleased with our squad. Everyone stayed focused on the objective til the final whistle ” Martins tweeted via his handle @Obafemimartins.
Martins has played 14 games games so far for Seattle Sounders this season.
