Obafemi Martins led Major League Soccer in AT&T Goal of the Week awards last season, and he’s rapidly building a run doing so for a second year running.
The Seattle Sounders star is running away with the Week 7 GOTW race after voting closed in the early hours of this morning with his latest golazo holding nearly two-thirds of all ballots cast as of Thursday morning.
Martins’ glittering game-clincher against the Colorado Rapids holds 63.47 percent of the vote, with Sebastian Giovinco’s fine strike sitting in a distant second place with 14.86 percent.
Federico Higuaín occupies third place with 11.75 percent, with Lamar Neagle and Mehdi Ballouchy bringing up the rear at 6.6 percent and 3.32 percent, respectively.
It’ll take some doing for anyone to catch Martins.
