Mashaba Calls For Fair Play Officiating Against Eagles

South Africa head coach Shakes Mashaba, has called for fair officiating when his team take on the Super Eagles in today’s AFCON 2015 qualifier in Uyo, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Speaking with allfrica.com, Mashaba who admits that beating Nigeria on their home soil will be difficult, said he hopes dodgy officiating will not be the order of the day going by the importance of the game to the reigning African champions.

“The only thing with these games is to hope that we get the best match officials, that is all.

“If we get the best then we are confident of results coming our way. Nigeria are in trouble and they need this (win). The game is also about more than just the three points because of the history between the two rival countries. Nigerians never want to lose to South Africans and that alone makes this a humdinger of a match,” Mashaba said.

A win for the Eagles will secure automatic qualification for next year’s AFCON taking place in Equatorial Guinea.

The group’s other game will see Sudan who are already out of the race to qualify, hosting Congo in Khartoum.
