Watford manager Walter Mazzarri has revealed that Isaac Success’ impressive performance coming on as a substitute was a major reason for handing the young Nigerian forward his first start of the English Premier League against Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Sunday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Mazzarri dropped Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo to the bench for the match, the first time Watford’s Premier League top scorer would be benched in 23 games.
Success has scored once having seen 98 minutes of EPL action was preferred to his compatriot Ighalo, who has scored three goals in his last 23 league games for the Hornets..
“Success is in because of the impact he has made coming on as a substitute this season and we hope he makes good the chance.” Mazzari said prior to the game against Middlesbrough via a translator.
Success, 20, rescued a point for Warford in a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth a fortnight ago.
