Lionel Messi made his long awaited return from injury Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 4-0 in the first El Clasico of the season at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
Goals from Luiz Suarez (brace), Neymar and Andres Iniesta secured the emphatic win for Barcelona.
Neymar had Barca’s first chance in the seventh minute but he blazed over the bar.
Two minutes later Ronaldo’s cross was punched away by Bravo in goal for Barcelona.
In the 11th minute Suarez opened the scoring after he side-footed the ball past Keylow Navas following an assist from Sergi Roberto.
Javier Macherano came off for Jeremy Matheiu due to a groin injury.
Neymar doubled Barcelona’s lead in the 39th minute when he slipped the ball beneath Keylor Navas off an assist from Iniesta.
Suarez almost made it 3-0 but his effort was cleared off the line by Marcelo and Ivan Rakitic’s follow up was blocked by Raphael Varane.
In the 53rd minute Iniesta scored Barcelona’s third after he blasted past Navas.
And in the 74th minute Suarez got his second with a chip over the keeper after beating the offside trap.
And with five minutes left, substitute Isco was shown a straight red card for a rash tackle on Neymar.
Barcelona are now six points ahead of Real Madrid.
