MFM Coach Ilechukwu: It’s Tough But We Can Still Beat Djoliba

By Adeboye Amosu:

MFM FC head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has admitted that his side now face a difficult task in their bid to make it to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup after going down to a 1-0 home defeat against Djoliba of Mali, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Mohamed Cisse scored the decisive goal 10 minutes from time as the Malians shocked their hosts in the first leg of their play-off tie at the Agege Stadium on Sunday.

The visitors dominated the game and could have scored more goals but for their poor marksmanship and goalkeeping ability of Ospino Egbe.

“It was a bad result for us but in football you don’t give up when you still have a chance,” Ilechukwu stated after the game.

“I must admit it’s going to be a tough one for us but we have to stay positive and keep fighting.

“We were not at our best in the game and I know this team can do better in the second leg.”

The reverse fixture will take place in Bamako on April 18.

This man must be joking. Nigerian footballers are just plain LAZY. They will all be sent parking including Enyimba. MFM will lose in Mali by up to 5 goals.

  • @Naija, this coach of a man is a little joker but not up to Gordons or Akpororo. You no fit even draw at home but just becos you just want to talk for talking sake, you hope to beat your home beater at their home. Maybe? Anything can fit happen sha in futball game. I heard it is a Mountain of Fire church club. This church is known for the priest of Ba’al type of prayers abi. That prayer then was useless. Anything can fit happen o. All the best.

[email protected] It is possible, akwa united beat a club in one of the congos three years ago 1-0, they came here and beat akwa 1-0 too and go on to win on penalties, in the very first round of this season’s competition, the same akwa united lost 2-1 to Gambian ports authority at home, the went to Gambia and beat their host 2-0, lobi stars drew here against an angolan side the went there and beat them, in 2004 caf champions league semis esperance drew 1-1 with enyimba in aba, enyimba went their got same result and won on penalties, I can go on and on, some time result doesn’t tell the whole story of games, my only worry is Ilechukwu’s admision that their opponent were better, if truly they were better than mfm here in lagos then there is no need for optimism, if they win fine, but if they actualy played very well the way we know mfm can do, then there is hope.

All hope is not lost. They can turn the tide if they believe in themselves.
