MFM Players, Officials Involved In Road Accident After Plateau United Defeat

By Johnny Edward: MFM Football Club of Lagos players and officials were involved in an auto crash on Sunday on their way back from a Nigerian Professional Football League game in Jos against Plateau United, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

No lives were lost and no major injury sustained by any of the players and officials of the team, CSN learnt.

The Olukoya Boys lost the encounter 1-0 to Plataeu United on Saturday.

According to a source in the team, the accident occurred at about 4.40pm along Akungba, Owo Road in Ondo State due to a brake failure.

Meanwhile, the coach of the team Fidelis Ilechukwu is fine contrary to reports that he is in a critical condition.

MFM are currently en route Lagos from the scene of the accident.

    Thank God for spairing their lives… Its high time that most teams should begin to take the issues of maintenance of their vehicles with some form of seriousness to avert future occurences. I hope the league management board will come-up with some policies that will guarantee the lives and safety of football teams/ players in the Nigerian leagues.
