–Enyimba striker eyes second trophy for People’s Elephant

After helping Enyimba of Aba to a 2014 Federation Cup win, Mfom Udoh says he’ll be delighted to play a part in the People’s Elephant first go at the COPA Lagos campaign.

“All of us started our career playing on the streets. It’ll be interesting having a feel of it all over again playing on the beach, I can say I’m looking forward to the Lagos Copa beach tournament with high expectation,” Udoh told Complete Sports.

The Copa Lagos gets underway at the Atlantic Beach of Eko Hotel Dec. 23-14 with the two time African champions billed to test the skill and might of La Liga giants, FC Barcelona.

“It will be interesting playing against Barcelona. And I’ll be glad being part of the fun, Enyimba has great supporters in Lagos as was evidence during the Federation Cup final so it’ll be nice coming back to Lagos so soon after”, Udoh who set a new domestic league record of 23 goals at the close of last season added.

Enyimba are yet to begin preparation for the tournament as the players are still on vacation after their Federation Cup win at the expense of Dolphins of Port Harcourt.

“I’m in Uyo as we speak right now, we’re still on break but I hope to be part of it all”, the former Akwa United forward enthused.

Udoh’s 23 league goal record has put him in the eyes of scouts who seek to get his signature for a possible Euro deal.

“It has been hectic getting to deal with the volume of calls from agents who having been calling to make one inquiry or the other”, informs Udoh who switched to Enyimba from Akwa United at the start of the concluded season.

The pacy forward refused to disclose the identities of the scouts running after him nor reveal the names of the European clubs they are working for.

Looking back at his debut season with the six-time league winners and four time Federation Cup champions, Udoh said it was one huge success for which he cannot stop being happy about.

“It was my first season at Enyimba and it turned out a big success.

“First I set out a 20-goal target and surpassed it, scoring 23 which is now a new record.

“Secondly, though my goals were not enough to give us the league cup, but we got a ticket to play in the CAF Champions League.

“Besides, we won the Federation Cup and I scored four goals in the cup win, its okay and I’m happy about it just as every other player would be”.
