Captain Mikel Obi has expressed his delight at joining with his Super Eagles teammates as they commence preparations ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Mikel arrived at the Eagles’ Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort in Uyo on Thursday, bringing the number of players in camp to 29.

Speaking after arriving, Mikel said he is happy playing alongside the current Super Eagles squad and also featuring at the World Cup.

“I am happy to be here. It is a huge privilege to play with this team and represent Nigeria at the World Cup,” Mikel was quoted on the Super Eagles verified Twitter handle with a picture of a smiling Mikel at the hotel.

The Eagles will take on Democratic Republic of Congo in a friendly game in Port Harcourt on Monday before jetting out to London where they face England on June 2.

Mikel, I am excited to see you join the team.
With you, I believe that this exceptional team will go very far in this wc.
I wish you and the entire team best of luck.

What was the reason he delayed his coming. We have a right to know as Nigerian. The captain should be the first 5 to hit camp unless something serious happen to delay him. So Mikel why did you delay?

How many people have noticed how indifferent v.moses is to the super eagles and Nigeria?
Always last to report to camp and always has an excuse not to play friendlies

    • Paschal 6 months ago

Thank you very much for that observation. That is not the only problem I notice with him. There is a certain arrogance creeping into him. The way he treats the younger players of the team calls for concern: His treatment of Iheanacho during the friendly match is one. Second is his treatment of Ndidi after Iwobi scored the goal against Zambia. Ndidi went to shake him but he just kept his hands on his dreadlocks and greeted the boy complacently with one hand. Its insulting. Moses should watch it, he is fast becoming full of himself.

On Victor Moses, you are may be right but this particular case is quite different.
Fifa gave a 10 day rest period after players played their last match of the season. Victor Moses played the FA cup finals on 19th May,2018. It means the 10 day rest will expire on the 29th May,so this effectively ruled him out of the Congo friendly.
Since we have our next friendly outside Nigeria at Wembley with England,NFF opted for him to stay back in London.
Like I said this may be a perfect excuse but it is legitimate.

Even if he has been given 10days rest he should have report to the camp, as  many things/strategies may be discuss, which I already had that the players and the coaching crew had a meeting and he missed it. Very bad.

  • @kendo
while Messi Neymar and Co are in training ground

I don’t blame Moses. When there are no competition for places in a team, that’s what u see players display.

    • True talk my brother, if in did he had stiff competition he will be in camp. Do u think if he was amongst England’s 23 man squad, he wouldn’t be in camp already, 10 days or not? Like they say in the land of d blind, a 1 eyed man is king. A player that never nears a free-kick or set piece play at Chelsea is 9jas automatic set piece taker, that is unacceptable in my opinnion. I don’t have anything against Moses in fact I like him as a player having followed his soccer career from his days at Wigan athletics and was rooting for him wen his career was approaching obscurity ala spells at liverpobut and westbrom however, his attitude towards 9ja and some players is pretty pathetic imho. Iheanacho has proven he can take set pieces very well even from his u17 days and has scored them too, why not let him strike d tin. Just saying.

Guys get ahold of y’all selves will ya!!! V.Moses is a cool guy by nature, lets learn to accept people for what and who dey are please…..He is reserved by nature and as long as his mates dont complain then who r u? abeg dont bring dat one here o…..we have a big week ahead no negative vibes here

  • Gideon S. 6 months ago

I think we should allow the coaching crew to manage this guy’s. Given him the Lil rest is not bad. To avoid injury and help his mind-set “psychologically”

We all want to see Ajiboye against congo DR because we want to observe him openly. Ajiboye was as well a European based goalkeeper too. Play him and he could become number one. Or finally drop him FOREVER. Musa Mohammed, kelechi and his brother and usman are worthy of invite in d real SENSE!

  • I am tired of v moses,
his arrogancy has became something else,
people have tired of covering his bad attitude at super eagle.
Iheanacho, iwobi and co should be careful when they score, because v moses never want them to outshine him.
that’s why he never want iheanacho to play freekick, also don’t happy when iwobi score against zambia.

V moses dont want to give respect to this country, but humble to his club.

dont worry after this wc onyekuru will replace you 2019 AFCON because you are bigger than this country and the coach.

my love for V moses has falling. he feels without him nigeria wil not progress.

V moses broke my heart for his disrespectfulness and noneloyal to his country.

  • He’s absence is understandable, if the coach, who has better knowledge on this did not utter a word of complain bout Moses why should we come to conclusion on this innocent guy who has his country at heart while on th e pitch working hard to win all games with the team. Haba! naija
