Turkish side Besiktas are keen to add Chelsea’s Nigerian midfielder Mikel Obi to their ranks this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Besiktas were initially keen on snapping up Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva but Reds boss Brendan Rodgers pulled the plug on the deal following his performance against Arsenal at the Emirates.
Also the injury to Jordan Henderson has seen any ideas to offload him shelved at least in this window.
Mikel’s only appearance for Chelsea so far this season was a 90th minute introduction in the Blues’ 3-2 win over West Brom on Sunday.
And he could fall further down the pecking order if Jose Mourinho succeeds in his chase of French star Paul Pogba.
Mikel is one of Chelsea’s longest-serving players behind John Terry after joining the club from Norwegian side Lyn in 2006, but the Nigerian will find first-team opportunities limited this season.
