Nigeria mdfielder Mikel Obi was brought on in added time as Chelsea defeated nine-man Arsenal 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, in the early kick-off of the English Premier League on Saturday.
Goals from Kurt Zouma and Eden Hazard secured all the three points for Chelsea.
Mikel, who welcomed the birth of a set of twins only on Friday and got a Super Eagles recall, came on for Cesc Fabregas as Chelsea sought to preserve their lead.
The game which looked evenly balanced in the early stages, fell apart for Arsenal when Gabriel Paulista was shown a red card towards the end of the first half for kicking Diego Costa after both players were involved in a scuffle.
Chelsea took advantage and opened scoring in the 53rd minute when Zouma headed in a Cesc Fabregas free-kick.
Arsenal went forward in search of the equalizer but went a man down again when Santi Cazorla was given his marching orders following a challenge on Fabregas.
Then in two minutes in added time, Hazard made it 2-0 after he pounced on a loose ball which came off Callum Chambers.
It was Chelsea’s second win of the season, and places them 10th in the table.
