Mikel: Super Eagles Are Ready To Make Nigerians Proud Vs Argentina

By James Agberebi:

Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has assured that he and his teammates are good to go against Argentina in tonight’s crucial Group D Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup clash.

The Super Eagles will hope to replicate their impressive 4-2 friendly win against Argentina last year.

They must avoid defeat against the two-time World Cup winners to stand a chance of progressing into the round of 16.

In their last four meetings with Nigeria at the World Cup, Argentina have emerged victorious.

“Ready for a big game tonight. Thank you for all the support, we are ready to do you proud,” Mikel, who fractured his hand in the 2-0 over Iceland on Friday, tweeted on Tuesday, hours before the 7pm kick-off.

In sha Allah I’m confident that Super Eagles will win today’s match against Argentina. This is the right time to get the job done. Therefore, it is now or never. My people no pressure. God is in control. My forum mates, come out and support our darling team, “the wings of Africa pride”. God bless us all. God bless Nigeria!!!

I don’t get this coach sometimes. Why does he pick Idowu over Tyrone? You need someone to defend and attack. Idowu can defend but not attack properly. He should have seen this against Iceland.

We need a natural left back not management or presumed left back.
The match is already getting too tensed Now.
      Let’s all pray.

      • Do you watch Idowu well when he plays? Is Idowu a natural lefrback?

Massive attack ; accurate passing and good defensive support.  Let no one commit unnecessary foul within 18 yards. coach will work with technical crews to avoid change that would hinder your effort.  Wishing you guys committed spirit of oneness and true sense of objectivity. Good luck.

Galvanise yourselves  with committed sense of oneness and exhibition of true objectivity that never be. Accurate passing ; possession of ball at all times ; massive attack and good defensive network. Let coach do not change a player that will deliver with someone the technical crew want. Wishing you guys the best performance and luck.

Achilles the cat, the animal oracle for the 2018 World Cup, has predicted that Nigeria will beat Argentina in their final Group D match.
The cat was presented with a choice of two bowls of food with Argentinian and Nigerian flags placed next to them, and Achilles preferred the latter one.

Earlier, the congenitally deaf snow-white cat correctly predicted Russia’s wins over Saudi Arabia and Egypt, Iran’s victory over Morocco and Brazil’s defeat of Costa Rica.

The Group D game between two-time former champions Argentina and Nigeria will be held at the St. Petersburg Stadium at 04:00am tomorrow morning.

Argentina go into the match knowing only a victory could see them through to the round of 16.

  • Coach pls. play 3-5-2 formation. Good luck Super Eagles

Pls we need to be extremely careful and also the coach shud start Trone for us we need someone like him, we are winning IJN

  • Sunnyb 5 months ago

Idowu is slow and he’s not a treat going forward.precise is defensive skills are questionable. Anyway good luck.

  • Sunnyb 5 months ago

I would prefer Iwobi and Musa upfront

  • Sunnyb 5 months ago

I never like this Iheanacho guy what a  lad the boy never improves. Highly overhyped

  • Na wah ohhh, messi again, God pls intervene on our behave.

  • Sunnyb 5 months ago

Can this coach pls get Iheanacho out of this game before is too late

  • Eagles pls give me the reason to have the cause to watch this match when i get home, as presently am just following up online n if we dnt win, no point to rewatch it, pls God intervene.

  • NOW , THEY ARE NOT EVEN PLAYING NYMORE. THEY NEED TO HOLD THE BALL AND PASS.

I hope Nigeria play with more purpose in the second half. No offense meant here, but Iheanacho and Balogun could be the weak links in the first half. Balogun did what I feared most, gift Messi a free kick near the 18-yard box. Credit to Uzoho for that great save. The guys have not been pressing high and that is why the free kicks will be close to the danger zone. Nigeria can win this. The team they are facing are really not the Argentina of old.

  • Kweli 5 months ago

I hope Iheanacho is taken out. He is too slow and cannot dribble past his markers. Get Iwobi to replace him. Quick!

  • I said it before, we will lose to Argentina.
    14mins 1:0.
We refused to fight the winnable fight.
If only this Deaf Rohr listened to us and play a 5-3-2 formation Against Croatia, with the right players, we would have won or got a draw.

Can you imagine 3 touches by mess I in our 18 yard box, no defender?
Why not place Etebo on Mesi and cut him off.

  • Kweli 5 months ago

That was a cool penalty from Moses! Keep it up lads!

  • Sunnyb 5 months ago

I think something is seriously wrong with our players either they tired or scared. No urgency no purpose

  • Sunnyb 5 months ago

    Ighalo I Ighalo Ighalo

  • Sunnyb 5 months ago

I swear Rohr should be probed  if Nigeria loses this game for fielding  Ighalo

  • Kweli 5 months ago

I agree with the total luck of purpose from the players. They run without much commitment, tackle without conviction and having Ighalo was a waste of space. Iheanacho did not do anything either. The guy can’t dribble and is too slow. What we all feared happened. I have no idea how people surveyed here could imagine the SE winning the WC. Even if they had beaten Argentina, I doubt that they would beat France playing like this. Well, sorry guys. Better luck next time, hopefully with a local coach.

  • The coach killed this game. Alex should have come in for Iheanacho. Useless Ighalo, Useless Rohr

  • Kweli 5 months ago

Now Senegal are the only surviving African reps. They face Colombia who must win their game. I doubt, the Teranga Lions will get past them. Still, I will root for them. This has not been a good WC for Africa. We seem to be taking a step backwards.

  • Super turkeys!

  • olufemi 5 months ago

will have no coach, he didn’t the time of substitution, the right players to replace

  • I don’t understand why Rohr sub Iheanacho for Ighalo, why not Alex. All Musa needs is just a good support, Alex would have done the job better when there was no pressure. We all know Ighalo has been useless since before the tournament. The coach killed the game, he is a real saboteur
