The Eagles have passed the ball a couple of times but South Africa are in possession. Egwuekwe nods the ball away
2- Egwuekwe clears the ball rather clumsily. The South Africans’ corner is cleared
4- Kenneth Omeruo defends poorly and gifts a South African attacker the freedom of the stadium. The resultant shot was poor
6- The Eagles clear from the box through Ogenyi Onazi-the Nigerian defence is under pressure
7- A through Mikel Obi pass is cut out by the South African defence
8- Ahmed Musa goes on a slalom run, he unleashes a shot that hits the cross bar.
9- South Africa get a corner. Enyeama deals with it
10- Ike Uche dispossessed of the ball
16- Juwon Oshawina wastes a great chance with a poor touch after a good Uche pass
17- Musa tries to chip the ball above the keeper but he is denied by the South African keeper. A minute later, he shoots straight at the keeper
20- Uche gives away possession but the initiative swings to the Nigerian side.
The South African keeper Darren Keet is down with an unconfirmed injury problem. Keshi uses the brief break to talk to his players. Game resumes
23- Raheem Lawal suffers a bad tackle
24- Ike Uche unleashes a powerful shot from 25 metres
26- Ike Uche is sandwitched by two defenders. Oshaniwa’s pass was nice.
27- Musa is flagged offside
28- The fans chant “All we are saying, give us one goal”. Efe wins a throw but the ball is given away by the Eagles. Many stray passes. Emenike the guilty party there
30- The Eagles boss possession but Uche loses the ball after not getting support from his team-mates upfront
32- South Africa forced to retreat after a promising counter, some good work by the Nigerian backline
35- Egwuekwe dribbled by a South African attacker but a quick break is not utilised
38- Mikel and Uche do a one-two combination but their move is broken
40- The South Africans give away the ball after threatening.
41- GOAL! Nigeria 0-1 South Africa. South Africa score from a counter. Egwuekwe’s defending was poor. The Warri Wolves defender virtually let the forward the room to shot beyond Enyeama
45- Uche shoots wide after a Mikel Obi key pass
The first half ends with South Africa on top. Nigeria 0-1 South Africa
45- Nigeria kick off the second half.
46- Mikel Obi tries a shot but the pressure he gets from a defender forces a scoffed effort
48- Emenike is down injured
48- GOAL. South Africa score the second goal of the match through first scorer, Rantie. Nigeria look out of the 2015 AFCON
51- The game temporarily halted with an injury to a South African player.
53- Sone Aluko comes in for Raheem Lawal. Emenike however nods tamely at the South African box
55- Keet is down on the turf; obviously wasting time
57- Efe’s pass is too short to create a chance
59- Emenike heads the ball from an Efe Ambrose cross, direct at the keeper
62- Oshaniwa wins a corner.
63- Aluko shoots the ball but the effort is off target.
64- Congo have scored in their game against Sudan
70 Sone Aluko scores after Uche’s shot hit the bar. Nigeria 1-2 South Africa. The Eagles need two more goals
70- Mikel is brought down in the box but the ref refuses to give Nigeria a penalty
72- Onazi shots from a long range but it is too high
73- Uche’s return pass to a sprinting Oshaniwa is too predictable, cut out by the resolute South African defence.
Musa’s shot is too long.
74- Omeruo is out, Aaron Samuel comes in
75- Mikel’s pass to Uche is too heavy
77- Egwuekwe is yellow-carded after fouling Tokelo Rantie
80- The ref fails to award another Nigerian penalty
81- Emmanuel Emenike delivers a rasping shot. The distance was not too far though. The South Africans are wasting time, claiming injury to a player
83- Keet claims the ball from a corner without a fight from the Nigerian players
85- Nigeria’s Mikel Obi shoots but none of his team-mates were there to attack from the rebound
87- Uche shoots directly at the keeper from a tight position
88- Samuel wins a corner. The ball is poor
89- Onazi’s shot is poor. The Eagles are almost out of the AFCON unless they score twice
90(+3)Goal. Nigeria 2-2 South Africa. Sone Aluko scores with a shot to equalise but Congo is still leading 1-0 versus Sudan
90(+5) Enyeama saves from a Rantie weak effort. Nigeria 2- 2. South Africa. Congo win 1-0 against Sudan to qualify for the AFCON

Nigeria failed to defeat South Africa to achieve qualification to the 2015 African Cup of Nations after the 2-2 draw in Uyo. What is your opinion about the failure of the team?

  • NIGERIA is faced with a lot of problems. Water, light ,food , house, jobs, security (Boko Haram) and health …. name them. Mr President, wetin concern you for NFF problem when e come be say na you dey impose that good for nothing coach, Stephen Keshi on NFF. Any way sha, as we have good for nothing coach na so we have good for nothing president. Our MUMU don doooo…

  • I believe this guy so much. Our president cause this lost. Keshi was sacked and it should have not brought back to disgrace Nigeria ( 170milion people ) . Please it due to sack since last Afcon . It is time to face the reality.
