Moses Absent As Chelsea Spank Southampton 3-0 To Extend Unbeaten Run

By Johnny Edward:
Victor Moses was left out of Chelsea squad that beat Southampton 3-0 at Saint Mary’s Stadium to extend their unbeaten run in the English Premier League to eight games, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

It was the fourth game this season that the 27-year-old Moses was left out of Chelsea’s matchday squad in the EPL having made two substitute appearances.

Eden Hazard struck the opener from 12-yard to give Chelsea the lead in the 30th minute and in the second half Ross Barkley’s simple tap-in from close range in the 57th minute doubled the Blues’ lead.

Alvaro Morata sealed the win in the additional time with a lofty strike for his third goal of the season.

The win temporarily puts the Blues in the second position of the table pending Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City at Anfield later on today (Sunday)

The win means Chelsea return to winning ways after two straight draws against West Ham and Liverpool.

Chelsea comfortably dominated possession of the game and piled pressure on their hosts, Southampton who struggled to create clear-cut chances.

But the Saints did get a rare chance to score through Danny Ings in the 26th minute but the Liverpool loanee blazed his strike over the bar.

Mario Lemina also had another chance to put Southampton ahead but failed to s on target but unsuccessful.

Ross Barkley robbed Pierre Hojbjerg before setting up Hazard, who comfortably slotted his strike past Alex McCarthy for his seventh goal of the season.

In the second half, Barkley turned in Oliver Giroud’s volley for Chelsea’s second goal of the encounter but Southampton did not go down without a fight as Ings and Nathan Redmond drew fantastic saves from Kepa Arizabalaga in the final minutes of the game.

The problem now is pride, but we know that real men admit their faults and correct them. Will Victor Moses be bold enough and retrace his steps?
