Nigeria star Victor Moses made his first English Premier League appearance of the season for Chelsea who recorded their first three points with a 2-1 win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur despite being dominated at Wembley on Sunday, Completesportnigeria.com reports.
Moses alongside Timeou Bakayoko, Alvaro Morata and Andreas Christensen were the four players making their first start of the campaign.
Marcos Alonso curled in a superb free-kick in the 23rd minute of the game after David Luiz was fouled at the edge of the box but an own goal from Mitchy Batshuayi in the 82nd minute got Spurs the equaliser.
But Alonso popped up to fire the winner for the reigning EPL champions with six minutes left to play.
Harry Kane had the first shot on goal when he stung the palms of Thibaut Courtois in the 13th minute.
The Belgian goalkeeper was on hand again to stop Kane from scoring three minutes later when he parried his shot for a corner.
Kane also hit the upright after a breaching the Chelsea defence in the 38th minute.
Spur were unlucky not to have restored parity in the 40th minute when Christian Ericksen’s free-kick went inches off the upright.
At the restart, Tottenham continued from where they stopped, creating two chances in the opening few minutes in quick succession.
And in the 75th minute Timo Bakayoko found William whose shot struck the upright.
But in the 83rd minute Batshuayi diverted in Erickson’s free-kick for the equaliser before Alonso sealed a nervy win for the Blues.
The win was Chelsea’s first win in their last three visits to the Wembley Stadium.
