Moses Shines Again As Chelsea Outclass 9-Man City

Manchester City had two players sent off late on as Chelsea’s brilliant run to the season continued.

The Blues came from a goal down to beat Manchester City 3-1 at the Etihad in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Super Eagles forward Victor Moses featured for 90 minutes while Kelechi Iheanacho was introduced with 13 minutes left.

Gary Cahill’s own goal gave City a 1-0 first half lead before three second half goals from Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard gave Chelsea the win.

It is Chelsea’s eighth straight win since losing 3-0 to Arsenal.

Chelsea go four points clear at the top on 35 points.

Hazard had the game’s first attempt on goal on 15 minutes but his low shot narrowly missed the target.

In the 21st minute Sergio Aguero tried a left-foot effort from outside the box which Thibaut Courtois tipped over the bar.

City had the ball at the back of the net on 25 minutes through Fernandinho but his header off Kevin De Bruyne’s freekick was ruled out for offside.

A few minutes later Hazard almost gave Chelsea the lead after beating the offside trap but his low cross was cleared away by City’s retreating defence.

City went close on 32 minutes after De Bruyne sent in a dangerous cross which Aguero couldn’t connect to.

A minute later Cesar Azpilicuerta made a vital block inside Chelsea’s 18-yard box, preventing Aguero from opening the scoring from close range.

On 43 minutes Aguero had a chance off De Bruyne’s cross but his header went inches wide.

City took the lead on the stroke of half time after Cahill turned Jesus Navas’ cross into his own net.

De Bruyne had a big chance to double City’s lead on 49 minutes following a break away but his low shot came off Courtois’ leg.

A minute later Diego Costa saw his low strike from Victor Moses’ pass miss the target.

In the 55th minute Chelsea made their first change with Willian replacing Pedro Rodriguez.

Cahill saved Chelsea’s blushes on 54 minutes, clearing away Aguero’s goal-bound strike following a poor back pass by Marcos Alonso.

De Bruyne had a glorious chance to extend City’s lead on 57 minute but hit Navas’ low cross against the cross bar in front of an empty net.

Costa equalised for Chelsea on 60 minutes after brilliantly controlling Cesc Fabregas’ long pass before beating Claudio Bravo with a low shot.

In the 66th minute Moses made a timely clearance preventing Aguero from tapping into an empty net from Navas’ cross.

Willian made it 2-1 to Chelsea on 70 minutes profiting from Costa’s pass.

In the 77th minute Iheanacho was introduced for John Stones.

In the 90th minute Hazard sealed the win for Chelsea sprinting on to Alonso’s long pass and slotting past Bravo.

And in the final minute of added time, Aguero and Fernandinho were both sent off, one for a violent tackle, the other for indiscipline.
