Chelsea secured their ninth straight win in the English Premier League after defeating West Bromwich Albion 1-0 in a hard-fought contest on Sunday.
Nigeria star Victor Moses who had a quiet game was replaced by Cesc Fabregas with 16 minutes left in the game.
The only goal of the game was scored by Diego Costa, his 12th league goal this season.
The win takes Chelsea back to the top in the league table while Arsenal drop to second.
Chris Brunt went close for West Brom in the 19th minute but fired just wide from 25 yards.
In the 26th minute Salomon Randon saw his low shot narrowly miss the right upright after getting the better of David Luiz.
Two minutes later Pedro Rodriguez couldn’t redirect N’Golo Kante’s low drive towards goal as it went inches wide.
Chelsea had a chance to go in front on 38 minutes but Pedro’s cross evaded Diego Costa at the far post.
In the second half Luiz sent a low free-kick from 25 yards wide of the right upright.
West Brom kept creating chances of their own and went close on 65 minutes but Thibaut Courtois was alert to the danger posed by Randon.
Chelsea finally broke the deadlock through Costa who cut inside the box fired into the top-left corner from 12 yards.
With four minutes left Marcos Alonso almost doubled Chelsea’s lead but saw his shot go over the bar.
