Moses To Join Super Eagles In London As Mikel Arrives In Uyo

By Johnny Edward:
Chelsea winger Victor Moses will not join the Super Eagles in Uyo for Nigeria’s friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Port Harcourt next Monday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The 27-year-old will join up with the squad in London ahead of their friendly against England at the Wembley Stadium on June 2, according to a tweet from the official handle of the Super Eagles.

Moses starred for Chelsea in last Saturday’s 1-0 Emirates FA Cup final triumph over Manchester United at Wembley.

“Camp update ahead #2018FIFAWorldCup. Captain @mikel_john_obi and @ogujohnugo have arrived in [email protected] will join the team in London.#SoarSuperEagles,” the Super Eagles tweeted.

Meanwhile, members of the media will have an opportunity to meet with the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr and the players at 1.45pm on Friday.

“Coach Gernot Rohr and the rest of the team are inviting members of the media to a parley at the Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, Uyo at 1.45pm on Friday, May 25, 2018,” a tweet on the official handle of the Super Eagles informed.

There are now 29 players in Uyo of the 30 included in the World Cup provisional squad, with Moses the only absentee.

  • My friend relax.he can’t be off if he wasn’t permitted judging by the fact that he just finished the FA cup with Chelsea.you don’t have all the information with you so relax.thank you

Victor Moses can be excused because he is already an established player, Messi selects matches he plays for d albacelete, since he is such a good player, we can excuse him besides, we know that he just finished FA cup and the game will be played in UK.

  • Rubbish…[email protected] So if mosses could choose when to come then Mikel too should have stayed back or onazi or musa or igalo. People should not be supporting rubbish.. Don’t compare the establishment of messi in the argentine team to Mosses in the Nigerian team.. Other established players like aguero, marshrano, de Maria all goes to camp early.. FA cup finshed since Saturday and all national team players have all gone to their respective camps

@Phillip, bro please free Moses. How many of the guys you mentioned where made orphans by bloodthirsty animals in the country they call thiers? The fact he even plays for Nigeria, the same country where his parents were butchered in the cruellest way during his childhood, is more than enough. It’s easy to blame Moses without imagining the pains he probably feels each time he travels to Nigeria.

Moses is not choosing match to coach granted him permission to rest after F A Match with man u

  • Chapo 6 months ago

@Phillips, dere is a standing law that players are expected to rest for about 10days after club duties before being part of national duties. Moses won’t be eligible to play against DR Congo even if he leaves his base in London which he still will be returning to. So lets not condemn Moses. I am also sure you wouldn’t want an exhausted Moses @ the world cup.

You can never compare Onazi, Musa or Ighalo with Victor Moses. Absolutely impossible! Moses is Nigeria best footballer anywhere on the planet. I’ll rather have him remain in England until the team converge for the England match next week. Even if he’s in camp he will not play against DRC. Mikel is the captain and should be in camp. When Mikel had work permit issues and did not make it to the March friendlies Moses was in camp. The team should’ve been camped in England in the first place. I’m sure he’s communicating with the technical crew so I believe there is no issues about him staying put in England to observe some rest. The game against DRC is only to see who will be dropped. Starting from the match against England is when the actual WorldCup preparations begins.

    • I love most of ur comments ayphilly right from kickoff to Aplay but on this one i will have to disagree with ur assertion that bcos Moses is 9ja best player he could be excused from coming to 9ja and train with d rest of the team. Messi played for Barcelona vs sundowns and was still one of d 1st to arrive in camp in Argentina. Is Moses better than Messi? Giroud and Pogba played dsame FA cup final but are in camp with France. We shouldn’t underestimate the importance of players (especially key players like Mikel and victor Moses) arriving early to camp, if players like these arrive early to camp it has an intoxicating effect on other players where younger players would say to themselves if my skippo and best player can show up early what excuse will I have to be late especially when we want to have an impact at d world and not just be mere participants. Countries that truly want to win are already in camp with their best. A few days away from ur teammates may not look like much but those few days together will forge stronger team camaraderie, better understanding and unity. The coach could also use those days to inculcate more tactics and strategies on the team. Finally, a day lost can never be retrieved. Just my opinnion

I get your points @Proudly9ja. However, France and Argentina have already named their final 23 so the likes of Messi, Pogba and Giroud have no choice than to report to camp. The final 23 will be announced after the DRC match therefore, Moses is not coming for an exhibition. He’s already guaranteed a spot in the final 23. Most strategies and formations can only begin once the team land in the UK for the actual camping of the WorldCup 23. For instance Simon Moses and Shehu Abdullahi reportedly came to camp with knocks. So I personally think Moses deserves a little rest till they converge in England next week. You know he was injured during the course of the season. I need him fit for the WorldCup.

I questioned Mikel’s lateness to camp wanting to know what was the reason. We can only speculate but what is the reason Victor Moses gave for not reporting to the camp. This is not good. Anyway I believe he must have a good reason to stay in England waiting for the team there. Coach, NFF, Amaju Pinnick must have a very good reason to allow him stay in England.

  • It is a well known fact that Victor Moses has always adopted a pick-and-choose approach to nature and perceived quality of matches he attends for the Super Eagles.

    Successive coaches have accommodated this.

Majority of the players have had gruelling seasons – Ogu in Israel only played a couple of days ago – yet they are in the camp.

No player is either indispensable or bigger than the national team. All men should be treated equally whether they think they are the Maradona of the team or not.

Ultimately though, it is up to the coach to choose to accept certain behaviours from certain players.

  • The NFF, coaches and technical crew that came out with the idea of a Nigerian Camping, are not fools. The essence was for the team to come together, continue with the bonding process, perfect tactics/strategies and get a presidential/Nigerian send off. This very is very symbolic, because anybody whois not around, won’t be part of the players, we will send off.
Players like Ekong, Balogun, Mikel, Ndidi are very key players….if they say they are no longer interested in this World Cup, we will really beg them. In essence, we have other very key players apart from Moses.
I don’t know his reasons for wanting to meet up with the team in London, instead of coming to Nigeria first and airlifted with the team back to London after we have sent them off. But I suspect his reasons could be frivolous, because I trust the NFF media…..once there is a good reason, they will boldly publish it. But in this case, I’m yet to see any reason anywhere.
My headache is that, other players could be watching and grumbling at how their colleague does whatever he wishes without any restraint.
We have to start putting our feet down. We should not allow any individual player to blackmail us. Nobody is indispensable.

  • please my pple, what is the solution……? shud Moses be drop & be replaced or what…? for the unity of the team & fans, no case. leave trash for lawman. 1-mind, 1-team, 1-love……

  • we should not condone any act of indiscipline from any player of the national team,in my own opinion i believe he should have travel down to nigeria and join his team mates in camp which would have portray him as a discipline and obedient footballer, having said that i believe the team management will manage this matter very well so that it will not cause disaffection in the team.

After Victor Moses rest for whatever reason he has to train for one week before playing. He should not play in the England friendly. Let those who arrived early play that game. Victor Moses should play against Czech Republic. That is the consequence of lateness to camp.

  • Ugwudede 6 months ago

Victor Moses did not stay back in England out of his own wish. football is a game that is governed by rules and regulations. Fifa rule stipulates that a player invited for a competition like the world will have a compulsory 10 days rest from the last club game he played before linking up with the national camp. Moses only played FA cup final last Saturday and even if he come to eagles camp the following day he will not play the Congo friendly because of the FIFA rule and the next game will be against England on June 2nd. the team will be moving to england on Tuesday. So my brother lets us not tear our house down by ourselves. we know the commitment this same Victor brings to the team on the field of play.

probably we shud take only one man squard to d world cup, victor moses, instead of 23
