Manchester United have been linked with Nigeria captain Mikel Obi as Jose Mourinho is set to raid his former club Chelsea, according to reports.
Mikel has not played a single minute for Premier League leaders Chelsea this season under Antonio Conte and the Super Eagles skipper has hinted he could leave in January.
Mikel won three trophies under Mourinho in the Portuguese coach's two spells at the club, and it was Mourinho who signed the midfielder for Chelsea back in 2006.
Ahead of his contract expiring at the end of the season, the Sun claim Mourinho is ready to strike a cut-price deal in January.
Incidentally, Mikel was involved in a drawn out transfer wrangle between United and Chelsea 10 years ago.
He even posed in a United shirt after seemingly signing for the club – before Chelsea agreed a deal and paid United £12million.
