Stats show that Louis van Gaal is doing worse at Manchester United than David Moyes in nearly every department.
One is a world-renowned coach who has won countless titles across Europe, the other is regarded by many to have been the worst manager in Manchester United’s history.
Judging by these figures from WhoScored.com, though, you’d be hard pressed to know which one is which.
Louis van Gaal has been given a relatively easy ride by United fans despite getting off to a worse start than David Moyes, and you have to wonder what the Scot makes of that considering he was unceremoniously sacked after only one season in charge.
The only stat that the Dutchman has managed to improve on is the club’s pass accuracy, despite spending £90 million more than Moyes did at Old Trafford in just one transfer window.
The former Bayern Munich boss has also accrued less points in his first ten games than Moyes managed, even though he’s faced easier opponents.
The stats don’t make great reading for van Gaal, and while supporters of the 63-year-old will point to United’s improving performances, he’ll be desperate to start proving he’s as good a manager as he says he is.
