From Mumini Alao in Port Alegre:
Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa launched a scathing attack on his critics who never saw anything good in his game after a briliant display against Argentina on Wednesday.
The Eagles lost 3-2 to their perennial rivals Argentina at the FIFA World Cup, with Musa grabbing a brace for Nigeria and almost got a third in the game, which arguably is his best game for the Super Eagles in a long time.
“I won’t say much, but I’m happy that I proved my critics wrong today,” Musa stated happily. “I always knew what I was capable of doing and everything fell in place for me today with the two goals.”
Musa reserved special praises for the Eagles coaching crew who had confidence in his qualities despite the numerous criticisms that came his way.
“I thank the coaches for having faith in me. We didn’t plan to go for a draw in this game even though it would have been enough for us to qualify. The coach told us to go for a win.
“We gave everything but we lost to a great side Argentina. The good thing is that we have still qualified for the second round and we thank God for that,”
