Musa Ready For Fresh Start With Al Nassr, Grateful To Leicester City

By Adeboye Amosu:

Super Eagles forward , Ahmed Musa, is looking to start his time with Saudi Arabia Premier League club, Al Nassr on a positive note even as he expresses delight to the club for their warm welcome, Completesportsnigeria. com reports.

Musa, 25, penned a four-year contract with Al Nassr who finished in third position in the Saudi Premier League last season on Thursday night.

The move put an end to his two year stay with English Premier League club, Leicester City where he struggled to pin down a regular shirt despite arriving from CSKA Moscow of Russia on a then £16m club record transfer deal.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at CSKA Moscow.

There were reported interests in his services by European clubs especially after he impressed for Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, but the former Kano Pillars star opted for a more lucrative contract at Al Nassr.

“🇸🇦 I am thankful for the opportunity to start the next chapter of my career with you. I am so excited and can’t wait to get started! Thank you all for the warm welcome! I hope we create many great memories together inshallah 🙏 @AlNassrFC @AlNassrSaudiFCe,” Musa wrote on his Twitter handle on Friday.

Musa has also thanked his former club, Leicester City for their support during his two-year stay with the Foxes.

“I want to thank everybody at Leicester football club for making my time in England a pleasure. Although it was short I have a lot of experiences I will cherish forever. No matter what this club allowed me to fulfill my dream of playing in the Premier League and for that I am forever grateful. I want to wish the team all success in the future, I will be watching and supporting! 💙 #LFC,” he wrote on his Instagram page.

  • Ahmed Musa: the beginning of the end?

Named as one of the most exciting young talents in 2011, Ahmed Musa had a lot to live for and a lot to live up to.

Raw pace is something that has come to characterise Nigerian football and in young Ahmed Musa, Nigerian fans had a player to continue that legacy but would he deliver? Would he live up to expectations?

Seven years on from his breakthrough Under-20 days and Musa can actually say: I came, I saw, I conquered.

The years were kind to him: 2013-Afcon trophy; 2014-1st Nigerian to hit a brace at the World Cup and a world cup second round appearance; 2018-1st Nigerian to hit a double brace at consecutive world cup; between 2012 to 2018-played top flight European football and scored goals aplenty.

Now Musa yearns for a new challenge in the Middle East.

When you consider where some of his contemporaries like Nwofor and Edefa Egbedi are, one cannot help but be happy for what Musa has achieved for himself.

Could he have pushed himself a bit harder? Could he have snubbed the riches of the Gulf for the rigours of a European league?

    Maybe yes, maybe no.

The man has taken a decision he believes suits him at this stage of his career.

    Who is anybody to judge?

that’s imaginary thinking, irrespective of where you play your ability to represent your country depends on your capacity to deliver to expected require of you, when those in Chinese league are getting place in the super eagles then, nothing stop anyone playing his trade anywhere in the globe
