Musa Scores, Ndidi Stars As Leicester Edge Sheffield In Carabao Cup; Aina, Aluko Crash; Akpeyi Missing

Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa scored his first goal of the season in his start for Leicester City in Tuesday’s 4-1 win over newly promoted Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup Recond Round clash at Bramall Lane, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
 
Musa who has been listed in the Nigerian squad to face Cameroon in a 2018 World Cup qualifier on September 1 and 4, sealed an emphatic win for the Foxes in stoppage time despite Caolan Lavery scoring a consolatory goal in the 83rd minute.
A brace from Islam Slimani and a strike from Demarai Gray had given Leicester City a 3-0 lead.
 
Musa’s compatriot Wilfred Ndidi who was also named in the six man midfield for the crunch clash against the reigning African champions featured for 77 minutes.  
Ndidi has made three appearances while Kelechi Iheanacho who returned to training on Monday after a toe injury was left out of the squad for the game.
 
At the Keepmoat Stadium, Ola Aina did not make the matchday squad for Hull City who were dumped out of the competition by hosts Doncaster Rovers.
 
The Tigers Lost 2-0, thanks to second half goals from Alfie May and Tommy Rowe.
Aina has made three English Championship appearances for the club since he joined on a season loan deal.
 
Sone Aluko’s Fulham exited from the competition after Bristol Rovers claimed a 1-0 victory at the Craven Cottage. 
 
While Aluko was left out of the squad, Sheyi Ojo played from start to finish in the defeat.
 
At the Vicarage Road, Isaac Success made his first appearance for Watford coming on for Nodin Amrabat at half time, but could not help the Hornets from losing 3-2 at home to Bristol City.
 
In the Premier Soccer League in South Africa, Nigeria’s first choice goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi was not in Chippa United’s squad that defeated Amazulu 2-0 on Tuesday. His compatriot, James Okuowsa featured in the encounter.
