By Johnny Edward: Al-Farouq Aminu scored a season high 24 points with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal in 41 minutes for the Portland Trail Blazers who edged Chicago Bulls 124-120 in their NBA clash early Tuesday morning (Nigerian time, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Aminu who was making his 22nd appearance of the 2017/18 NBA season scored five of the seven three-pointers during the game and was his team’s second highest scorer after CJ Mccollum who scored 32 points, six rebound and eight assists.
The win was the Blazers’ 18th of the season and their tenth win away in the NBA.
The Portland Trail Blazers travel to Cleveland to face the Cleveland Cavaliers who are trying to bounce back from three consecutive losses in the NBA in their next game Wednesday morning.
With Aminu’s performance in the NBA, it remains to be seen if he will feature for the Nigeria’s men basketball team, D’Tigers in February when they begin their quest for a place at the 2019 Fédération Internationale de Basketball (FIBA) World Cup in China.
Aminu alongside 11 other players missed D’Tigers Afrobasket title defence in Tunisia in 2017.
D’Tigers will face Uganda, Rwanda and Mali in Group B of the African qualifiers. The top three in each group advance to the second round and will be grouped into two groups with six countries each.
At the end of the second round, the top two countries from each group and the third best will represent Africa at the tournament.
