NBA Play-Offs: ​D’Tigers’ Aminu Stars As Blazers Lose To Pelicans

Nigerian star Al Farooq Aminu recorded the sixth double-double of his National Basketball Association (NBA) play-offs career in Portland Trail Blazers’ 111-102 defeat to the New Orleans Pelicans in game two of the NBA play-off series on Wednesday morning.

A double-double in basketball is the accumulation of a double-digit number total in two of five statistical categories—points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocked shots—in a game.

The D’Tigers’ star, who was playing his 69th game of the season for the Blazers, scored 14 points, 15 rebounds and one assist in 36 minutes.

Al-Farouq Aminu made four first-half three-pointers in notching a team-high 12 points to go with nine rebounds before hhalf-time.

By the end of the night, he had recorded the sixth playoff double-double of his career with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 rebounds marked a new playoff career best.

It was the second time he was recording a double for the Blazers this season against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Portland Trail Blazers now trail the New Orleans Pelicans 2-0 in the playoff series. The loss was Portland Trail Blazers’ fifth consecutive at home in the playoffs and eighth overall.

Aminu, 27, had earlier recorded double-doubles this season against the Boston Celtics, Victor Oladipo’s Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heats, New Orleans Pelicans, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons and the LA Clippers.

The 2015 FIBA AfroBasket winner has also averaged 10.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists so far this season.
