By Kayode Ogundare:
Newly engaged coach of Remo Stars Fatai Osho has stated his resolve to make a success of the job on his second coming to the Stars by leading the team to qualify for the CAF Champions League, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
"I have been here once so it's not a new terrain to me," Osho said in a Remo Stars press statement on Monday. "
One way or the other, I have played one or two roles in bringing the club to where it is now and we want to be a club that would be playing in the CAF Champions League and that's the target."
Osho made an emotional return to the Sagamu-based team and vowed to turn around their floundering fortunes.
He added: "When you start the league and you have played five to eight matches, the margin between the league leaders and the last team is not a gap that cannot be redeemed. We are in a position that with two to four victories, we get into the first five, then stabilize and start looking at the continental ticket cause I believe we can still do that and that's what I tried to make the lads understand this morning and we believe we can do that."
Osho was also forthright on why he made a return to Remo Stars years after his departure, describing the offer to come back as irresistible.
"There was no way I could turn a Remo Stars offer down," the former Crown of Ogbomosho coach said. "This is where I started my football as a professional coach and the Chairman is like a father figure to me so it's definitely impossible for me to say I would not come. On my coming back I want to see we have something better than what we were able to achieve the last time."
Osho also reiterated that he was not in a hurry to make massive changes to the playing personnel but would be looking to change the players' mental approach to games.
"Even before my appointment I had been monitoring the team and I watched them play here during my leisure time and I believe they can do it. All we need to do is to create a new mentality for them that if we don't defeat ourselves it will be difficult for anybody to defeat us.
"The lads we have on the ground are capable of bringing smiles to the faces of our fans and management and we have what it takes to defeat Lobi Stars come."
