NFF Await FIFA Approval Over Super Eagles Invitee Aina’s Switch To Nigeria

By Johnny Edward:

World football governing body FIFA are expected to approve the nationality switch of Hull City defender Ola Aina in the coming days as the Nigerian Football Federation have presented documents to back the ex-England youth captain’s switch to the country of his parents, Completesportsnigeria.com has reliably gathered.

Hull City defender (on loan from Chelsea) Aina, 20, was named in the Nigeria squad to face Cameroon in two crucial World Cup qualifiers in early September.

Completesportsnigeria.com gathered that the needed documents required for the approval have been provided by the NFF and they await a final verdict from FIFA for Aina to switch nationality in the coming days.

According to FIFA regulations on international switches, the player wishing to represent a new country must submit a written request to the world governing body seeking to play for another country.

The federation the player wishes to represent must also satisfy conditions including evidence of the player’s link to the country with a passport.

“The request from the Nigerian Football Federation concerning Aina is still pending with FIFA and currently being treated,” a top official of the NFF disclosed to Completesportsnigeria.com.

“We have not recieved a notification yet but hopefully we will get that before the game.”

Victor Moses and Sone Aluko also switched nationality to their parent’s country Nigeria after playing for England at youth level.
