The proposed training tour of United States of America by the U-23 Eagles may have been called off by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, as the football ruling body does not believe the tour will help the Rio 2016 bound team, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Completesportsnigeria.com reports that the officials of NFF, instead of the approving of the USA tour, is looking at arranging a training camp and a couple of friendly matches for the team in Brazil or a nearby South American country.
"We don't see any benefit in the tour of USA because they won't get quality test games there and the weather will not be same at the time of the games," an impeccable source who is a top member of the NFF board told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"We are working on better test games for the team in Brazil where they would also acclamatize better than in the USA."
The source added: "Winning the gold medal in Rio is our target and the federation is working very closely with Chief Coach of the team, Samson Siasia to ensure everything works out well."
He also revealed that the NFF will ensure that all the foreign based players Siasia requested for are released to him by their respective clubs.
