NFF Offers Keshi New N120m a Year Deal

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi is set to sign a new two-year contract worth over N300 million, Complete Sports has learnt. He could sign as early as next week.

This was disclosed to Complete Sports in Abuja on Thursday soon after the impeachment of Alhaji Aminu Maigari as the President of the NFF by the executive committee of the football ruling body.

According to our source who does not want his name in print, the technical and development sub-committee is expected to fine tune the contract and discuss with Keshi and make him the offer which is within the federation’s affordability.

The post-Maigari NFF executive committee confirmed the proposed meeting with Keshi in the communiqué of their first gathering.

They have set up a three-man panel, made up of Chris Green, Felix Anyansi and Deji Tinubu, to meet with Keshi and thrash out the details of a new contract.

Complete Sports gathered that the new deal may see Keshi getting as much as N120 million as annual salary with house rents and other allowances being another N30million per annum.

Our source revealed that the discussion with Keshi will be a mere formality as President Goodluck Jonathan has already given his approval for the Delta-born coach to be given a new contract.

Under the new contract Keshi is expected to take home N10 million monthly as salary plus allowances running into millions of naira.

Keshi signed a three-year contract worth N60million yearly in 2011 after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for that year’s Africa Cup of Nations. He led Nigeria to win AFCON in South Africa two years later and just returned from the World Cup in Brazil where he led Nigeria to the last 16.
