NFF Unveils 23 Man Squad For Congo Clash

By Johnny Edward:

The Nigeria Football Federation on Tuesday called up 23 players for next month’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against the Red Devils of Congo and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.

The list includes defenders Kenneth Omeruo and Efe Ambrose, midfielders Ogenyi Onazi and John Mike Obi, and forwards Ahmed Musa and Emmanuel Emenike.

France –based Elderson Echiejile, who missed the 2014 FIFA World Cup as a result of injury, Nosa Igiebor who missed the final cut for Brazil and Chinedu Obasi who was not considered for the tournament, are all back for September’s double –header.

Onazi, the midfield powerhouse who suffered a terrible injury in the Round of 16 defeat by France, is now fully recovered, but Michael Babatunde, who was stretchered out against Argentina after a hand injury, is left out.

Home–based quartet; Chigozie Agbim, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Kunle Odunlami and Gbolahan Salami who were part of Nigeria’s third place finish at the African Nations Championship in Cape Town earlier in the year, also have opportunity to return to Cape of Good Hope and shine. They are joined by Enugu Rangers’ marksman Christian Osaguona as the lot from the domestic League.

Nigeria play Congo’s Red Devils – restored to the race after conquerors Rwanda were found guilty of using an ineligible player – in Calabar on September 6, before flying to Cape Town to take on the Bafana Bafana on September 10.

I swear…. These set of players would have performed better @ the world cup. No thanks to Keshi.

Please check what you wrote, who will coach the team?
Spain had all the big names in the world and they were defending champions, Europa champions yet they could not get to the next round.
Brazil has the best players in the world yet they lost by 10-1 in 2 matches, now you’re telling us and swearing by it that Aluko, Obasi and unfit Joel Obi will be France? Please you’re not making sense, we don’t have the quality players or the coach that could take us to the round of 8. Keshi should be ready in the next 4 years, we can go as far as the coach goes. END OF STORY, PLEASE STOP SWEARING.

Some people will always run their mouth unnecessary , what’s the diffrence between this team and Keshi,s usual team..?..if you don’t have anything sense full to say just go get busy

These are better set of players except the home based which I am not familiar with, and this raise a question why is the NFF going along with Keshi in a new contract when they know that Keshi will never invite our best players for any competition, abi lets ask this question if it was Keshi who made this selection would he have invited this set of players, answer is capital NO

@jorsen keep swearing on your head , the coach determines how far we can go and not the players.
Moses went to the World Cup, Mikel was there too, but what did they do?

Babatunde is not recalled because he has just started practicing , and Ike Uche is not on the team too.

Balotelli could not do anything to save Italy, Sterling could not do anything to save England, but in Nigeria we believe the likes of Uche would have beat France.
This is the same team that went to Brazil, Joel Obi is not better than Rueben, the Obi that I saw during pre-season has at least 6 more months to be ready.
Obasi could not do better than Osaze, so what is the improvement on this team compared to the team that went to the World Cup? By the way Agbim is still on the team.

Kola US, always defending Keshi, even in the face of the obvious. The world cup is a close chapter, the teams u mention failed with their very best, why we keep wondering what would have happen if we had gone there with our best, i believe we could have had a better performance, Keshi needs to grow above his Ego and sentiments.

What is worth doing is worth doing well. I just wish every party involved has learnt their lessons. Let,s believe we can only get better.

Who suggested these list to the NFF, sef? Keshi? If yes, what re they waiting for to finish the contract buzz with him, so we know who’s at the helm of Eagles affairs? If it’s not Keshi, will NFF coach d team? Just asking!
