Nigeria on Friday continued her push in the table tennis event of the on-going 11th All Africa Games in Congo.
Team Nigeria women tennis team recorded a 3-0 defeat of Mauritius at the Revolution Hall Kintele.
The women’s event was the concluding part of the preliminary games.
The Nigerian team now top the group comprising Mauritius, Botswana and Tunisia who pulled out after coming with only one player.
The quarter finals draw will be done Friday afternoon with the games slated for Saturday September 12.
Nigeria women table tennis head coach, Bello Nasiru told completesportsnigeria.com immediately after the games that he was not surprised by his girls’ performances.
“We know that the teams we played are not of our standard. We played them as if to just warm up because we prepared well before coming here.
“We spent two months together in training and hopefully the real game will start at the quarter-final stages on Saturday.
“Our target still remains to go home with the gold medals in women and men categories,” Nasiru said.
