Coach of the National U-20 Flying Eagles, Manu Garba has predicted a very tough match between his team and the Black Satellites of Ghana in today’s semi-final of the AYC, saying it is final before final.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, the match which will be played at the Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar will not be easy but confident that his boys will play to win.
“This is the final before the final because it will even be tougher than the final”, says the coach
“Our tournament starts with this game and we have to be prepared to win it so as to stay on track for our main target, which is to be champions of Africa.
“There will really be no point qualifying for the World Cup, if we cannot go there as champions of Africa,” added Garba.
Commenting ahead of today’s clash, three goal hero Taiwo Awoniyi expressed optimism that they will not only overcome Ghana, but will also win the trophy come Sunday
“We know the entire country expects only one thing from us – victory. And we will deliver this on Wednesday (today) and in the final on Sunday,” vowed Awoniyi.
Meanwhile, Ghana coach Sellas Tetteh who led the Black Satellites to win Africa’s first U-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009 said he believes his players have what it takes to go pass Nigeria.
“We will put our house in order to face Nigeria. We’re capable”, he said.
