By Adeboye Amosu in Kano: North Central have emerged winners in the U-13 category of the NFF Zenith Bank Future Eagles competition after edging out South West 4-2 on penalties at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano on Saturday.
A keenly contested game saw both sides fail to break the deadlock and had to be separated by a penalty shoot out.
In the end, it was the young boys from North Central that carried the day as they converted four of their kicks, while South West only scored two.
There was a small consolation for the South West Boys though as their talented goalkeeper Segun Oladimeji was voted the best goalkeeper in the competition, while his teammate Precious Ogunyase picked the most valuable player honour.
The competition is put together by the Nigeria Football Federation to discover young and promising talents that will play for the various national teams in future.
