NOTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT: How Super Eagles Rated Vs Czech Republic

Completesportsnigeria.com’s ADEBOYE AMOSU rates Super Eagles players following their 1-0 defeat against Czech Republic on Wednesday in their final warm-up friendly before the World Cup…

FRANCIS UZOHO 6/10
Looked more composed than in previous outings for the Super Eagles. Made two excellent saves in the game and has certainly made the goalkeeping position his own. The Czech Republic goal was not his fault.

SHEHU ABDULLAHI 4/10
A slight improvement from his woeful showing against England but still no way near his best form.

LEON BALOGUN 5/10
Troubled at times by the opponents but still posted an above average performance.

WILLIAM TROOST-EKONG 6/10
Stood firm when the team was under pressure especially in the first half. He was Nigeria’s best defender in the game.

BRYAN IDOWU 4/10
The Amkar Perm of Russia defender failed to impress in the game. He was caught out of position at times and his final ball on the overlap was awful.

WILFRED NDIDI 6/10
Looked sharp on his return from harmstring injury but could not prevent his team from going down to a third consecutive defeat.

JOHN OGU 6/10
Showed his strength as a part of a three-man midfield in the first half and his versatility when the team switched to 3-5-2 after the break when he played as a third centre-back.

MIKEL OBI 5/10
Toiled hard to impress in the game with little or no success. He will need to raise his game for the team to make an impact at the World Cup.

ALEX IWOBI 6/10
Didn’t hit the standard he set in the previous game against England but one of Super Eagles’ top performers in the game.

VICTOR MOSES 5/10
A slight improvement from the previous game against England but it was not enough to sway the outcome of the game in his side’s favour.

ODION IGHALO 5/10
Missed a number of goal scoring opportunities in the game. He looked fitter and sharper in the game but did not trouble the Czech defence much.

SUBSTITUTES

ELDERSON ECHIEJILE 5/10
Made overlapping runs upfront and added bite to the left-side of the team’s attack following his introduction.

TYRONNE EBUEHI 5/10
Showed his class once again after his introduction in the second half. He was unlucky not have won a penalty for the team following a foul on him.

SIMY NWANKWO 3/10
Did little to affect the game following his introduction for Odion Ighalo.

AHMED MUSA 3/10
Came in too late too affect the course of the game.

Some grey areas in d team hv been exposed. The coach and his back room staff need to get down to work and correct those areas b4 the world cup commences. With the loses so far recorded, it will take pressure off the team, which is good and will enable them go for a kill at the Mundial proper. The team will come good at the tourney trust the Eagles.

Iwobi 8, Uzoho 7, Ndidi 7, John Ogu 7 William 7. The rest went there for sight seeing. Every one of them depend on Iwobi to score. He is only human and very young for that matter, please. Up Iwobi. God Bless.

Mikel is not pulling his weight. I wonder why no one has commented on that.

    • I did commented on mikel elsewhere before today’s match, he is aging, actually tired. imagine mikel with sharp midfielders like pogba, mata, and all those sharp guys from across the world… mikel will not safe our midfield, and hard that we have to look at average players like ogu, etebo for succour… we may be luck at the world cup all the same …

I think mikel should play deeper in the mid field. he controls the game from that position

I am only interested in Ndidi Wilfred. He played!!!! That is the news that should concern Nigerians and not the outcome of the vd Czech match. Just leave that matter. Quality matches have been played. We have seen the results. We have observed. We have proffer solutions to the gray areas that needs to be address. The Super Eagles will now go into camp. Be rest assured we will see a new Super Eagles fit to do wonders. I still stand by my belief that Croatia and Iceland will be beaten by Nigeria which is enough to take us into the round if 16.

spot on bro…..people need to chill as its only a week away from now. nobody wants to come dis far and cop injury from a match against a team with nothing to loose…any type of injury copped is not less than a week or even 2 weeks that automatically rules u out!! tactics and formation has been perfected….having to go thru drills and friendlies meant dey were walking on egg shells but now they need time off and rest and train two days to the first match

Pls let’s limit our expectations….apart from the Argentina friendly… all other friendlies have been lackluster…. Australia beat this same Czech team 4-0

    • Dr. Drey 5 months ago

Oga..football is not mathematics. Argentina lost 1-6, Germany (defending champions) lost their friendly to Austria (that isn’t going to the world cup). Pls how many points did Australia get for beating Czech and how many points did Czech get for defeating Nigeria

The team is not rugged enough.. Right from d defence to the attack… My average score for them since the friendlies started is 4/10.. Whatever result they get from d World Cup. Some players don’t have business in the team

  • Our boys need to PRACTISE hard how to take setpieces…we were awfully wasteful with them in this match. Bryan’s goal-scoring instinct failed him. Mikel dragged the game, often lacking in what to do BEFORE(not when) the ball gets to him. Something tells me that the last 3 friendlies have been played that way by the SE deliberately. You will see sth else at the Mundial

We all have to come down, friendly games is not all abt to win bt to experiement, coach is trying 4-3-3 bt is not working bt 3-5-2 is working and I see Nigeria  wit 7 point in there grp

Dats game. Our boys tried. Don’t expect winning everytime. Our boys are gradually learning each other. Nigeria should be patient. Look at our keeper today, he is gaining courage. Impatience of our fans affected akpeyi.akpeyi is a good keeper but needed small time to earn courage but fans didn’t allow him

    • Thank you unique,
Spot on with your akpeyi talk. True. This team is not what we will see at the world cup o.

    • Dr. Drey 5 months ago

Akpeyi is 31 bros. rather than waste out time developing a 31 year old, i’l rather use it to develop a 19 year old. Uzoho is way better than akpeyi. Otherwise he wouldn’t be suiting up for an European club

  • bomboi balang 5 months ago

Dont mention that Akpeyi again pls.He broke our hearts woefully !
