NPFL: Heartland, Rangers In Oriental Clash, Plateau United Face Warriors Test

By Adeboye Amosu: Match day three of the 2018 Nigeria Professional Football League will see some mouth-watering contests, with the oriental derby between Heartland and Enugu Rangers the pick of the pack, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Both sides are without a win after two games this season. Heartland have played two consecutive draws against Sunshine Stars and Enyimba.

Rangers on the other hand, have lost their opening two games, and another defeat at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri will further put pressure on handler of the team, Gbenga Ogunbote.

Champions Plateau United who have won two out of two, face a tricky road trip to Umuahia where they will be guests of Abia Warriors.

Abia Warriors are without defeat in their last 14 home games, with 11 wins and three draws.

Plateau United defeated Nasarawa United 1-0 in their last away fixture.

In another heavyweight clash, Kano Pillars will host Rivers United at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

In another match day three fixture, FC Ifeanyiubah will look to compound the woes of John Obuh’s Kwara United when both teams clash in Nnewi.

Obuh’s men have lost their opening two games, while their hosts have won one and lost one.

At the Lafia City Stadium, struggling Nasarawa United who have lost their opening two games will seek redemption when they tackle Sunshine Stars.

Nasarawa United’s last game against Plateau United was marred by crowd troubles and the Solid Miners could face stiff sanction from the League Management Company if there is a repeat of such acts.

Seven-time champions, Enyimba will travel up north where they will confront the hosts, Katsina United, while Wikki Tourists and Niger Tornadoes will clash in the Northern derby in Jos.

Akwa United will hope to bounce back from their shocking midweek defeat to Go-Round FC when they file out against Yobe Desert Stars at the Godswill Akpabio international Stadium, Uyo.
