By Adeboye Amosu: Heartland picked their second win of the season after edging out hosts Niger Tornadoes 2-1 in their matchday six rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League fixture at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja on Wednesday.
It was the Naze Millionaires first away win of the campaign and their first in the NPFL since 2015 when they defeated Kwara United in Ilorin.
The win lifted Heartland from 15th to seventh position in the table.
Niger Tornadoes who started their campaign with a 2-0 away win against Kwara United are now without a win in their last five games.
The visitors took the lead in the sixth minute through Lucky Emariojoke who responded quickest to smash home Japhet Opubo’s long kick.
The lively Emariojoke went off injured in the 15th minute and was replaced by Mohammed Azeez.
Azeez extended Ramson Madu’s men’s lead three minutes before the break following a defensive blunder by Tornadoes.
The home side reduced the deficit four minutes after the break with an acrobatic finish by Bashir Usman.
The Minna club were however unable to find the equaliser despite dominating possession in the latter parts of the game.
