By Johnny Edward:
New Nigerian Professional Football League leaders MFM's place at the top of the table will be on the line for the first time this season when they visit the Pantami Stadium to face Gombe United in a match day 15 clash, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
MFM are in great form at the moment, unbeaten in their last five league games and they boast the likes of Chukwuka Onuwa, Sikiru Olatunbosun and the league's top
scorer Stephen Odey with 12 goals.
The Olukoya Boys have one of the best away records in the NPFL so far this term with three draws and three defeats and have only failed to score in two of their seven away games this season. But they are up against a Gombe side that are unbeaten at home this season.
Plateau United will be without their coach Kennedy Boboye for the second game running as they will be eager to pounce on any slip from MFM on Sunday to reclaim top spot when the Jos side take on fifth-placed ABS at the Rwang Pam Stadium.
Unlike ABS who needed a stoppage time goal to salvage a draw at home to Enyimba FC of Aba in Ilorin, Plateau United were brought down to earth by high-flying
MFM at the Agege stadium last Sunday. ABS, coached by Henry Makinwa, have failed to win a game away this season despite recording two draws.
Plateau United will welcome back Dele Ajiboye for the encounter after serving his one-match ban for his misconduct in a match day 12 game against 3SC.
At the UJ Esuene Stadium, former NPFL champions Enyimba International of Aba will battle Rivers United for all three points. Both sides have had indifferent runs in the league this season with Rivers United recording two wins in their last ten games.
Enyimba, unbeaten at home this season, will be banking on captain of the side Mfon Udoh who has scored six goals.
The People's Elephant have won eight of their last 18 encounters with Rivers United winning three – with the recent victory coming over a year ago.
Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, will be the match venue as stuttering champions Enugu Rangers aim to turn their fortunes around this Sunday.
The Flying Antelopes are winless away from home this season and face a Katsina United side unbeaten at home this season. United have recorded five wins and two draws in front of their home fans this season and will be desperate to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat away to Wikki Tourist last Sunday.
At the El Kanemi Stadium in Maiduguri, El-Kanemi Warriors will look to maintain their impressive home form when they host Lobi Stars from Makurdi. With seven of their eight wins coming at home this term Lobi Stars will have to do the unimaginable to end the Warriors unbeaten run of 21 games at the El Kanemi Stadium. Club top scorer Mathias Samuel with seven goals will look to add to his tally against Lobi Stars.
Shooting Stars made a big leap to 13th in the NPFL log after their nervy 1-0 win over Rangers International in a rescheduled game at the Lekan Salami last Wednesday.
The Oluyole Warriors can move as high as the ninth position with a big win when they travel to Lafia to face Nasarawa United who forced Lobi Stars to a goalless draw on matchday 13.
Kano Pillars will be hoping to earn their first win of the campaign away from home when the take on Abia Warriors in Umuahia. If they win it will be their first in their last 20 games away in the NPFL.
In other fixtures, relegation battlers Remo Stars will face Wikki Tourists in Sagamu while Akwa United will host FC Ifeanyi Ubah at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. At the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Niger Tornadoes, unbeaten at home this term, will be hoping to make it five wins from their last five home games when they host Sunshine Stars.
