‘Hostilities’ will resume in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Sunday with 10 matches on the card following a week break for the State Federation Cup finals, Completesportsnigeria. com reports.

League leaders, Lobi Stars, have a chance to extend their lead at the top of the log when they host Yobe Desert Stars at home with their title rivals, Kano Pillars and Plateau United facing tricky away fixtures.

Second-placed Kano Pillars will be up against Abia Warriors in Umuahia , while Plateau United face relegation battlers, El-Kanemi Warriors, in Maiduguri.

Lobi Stars have 40 points, while Pillars and Plateau United who occupy second and third positions respectively have garnered 36 points apiece.

Fourth-placed Akwa United who are on 35 points will look to build on their midweek win against Enyimba when they host Niger Tornadoes at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo.

Niger Tornadoes defeated FC Ifeanyiubah 2-1 in their penultimate away game but conceded a late goal to lose 1-0 to Enyimba on their road trip.

Former champions Enyimba will do battle with Nasarawa United at the Lafia City Stadium.

The People’s Elephant sit in ninth position with 31 points, nine adrift of leaders Lobi Stars but still have two outstanding games to be played.

At the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt, Sunshine Stars will hope to ease their relegation worries by securing a win against their hosts, Rivers United.

Last season’s runners-up, MFM who have had a tupsy turvy campaign so far will be the guests of FC Ifeanyiubah in Nnewi.

The hosts’ last home against Niger Tornadoes ended in a 2-1 defeat.

MFM have lost their last two games, a 1-0 home defeat to Abia Warriors and 3-1 away loss to Kwara United in Ilorin.

Katsina United and Enugu Rangers will slug it out at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, while Wikki Tourists and Kwara United will fight for the maximum points at the New Jos Stadium.

In Owerri, Heartland who sit in the last position in the table and now destined for a return to the Bet9ja Nigeria National League having secured 16 points from 21 games, will file out against Go Round FC.
