NPFL: Plateau Extend Lead, Rohr Watches As Tornadoes Shock Remo Stars

Plateau United beat El-Kanemi Warriors 2-0 at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos on Wednesday to maintain  their unbeaten streak in the Nigeria Professional Football League, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Benin Republic international Salomon Junior put the Tin City side ahead in the 12th minute of the encounter, heading home Daniel Itodo's long throw in for his second goal of the campaign.

Jimmy Ambrose added the decisive second a minute before the break.

Kennedy Boboye's charges sit at the top of the standings with 17 points after after picking five wins and two draws  from seven games.

In Sagamu, Remo Stars suffered their second home defeat of the season after going down to a 1-0 loss against Niger Tornadoes in the presence of Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr.

Chidiebere Ajoku scored the winner a minute before the half hour mark.

It was Ajoku's fourth goal of the campaign.

Abia Warriors and Sunshine Stars played out a 1-1 draw at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

Joseph Abiodun gave the visitors the lead a minute before the break, while former U-23 Eagles defender Ndifreke Effiong equalised for the home side in the 47th minute.

At the Pantami Stadium, Austine Oladapo hit the back of the net seven minutes from time to hand Gombe United a  hard-fought 1-0 win against Nasarawa United.
