Plateau United's title credentials will be put to the test when they face struggling Akwa United on Sunday in a Nigeria Professional Football League match-day eight fixture at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Tin City club are the only team yet to suffer defeat in the league this season.
They sit at the top of the standings with 17 points, four more than second-placed MFM FC who are not in action this weekend due to the involvement of their opponents Rivers United in the CAF Champions League.
The hosts who are managed by Abdu Maikaba are rooted to the bottom of the table and have picked just one win from seven games.
Seven-time champions Enyimba will be up against Niger Tornadoes at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
Tornadoes are unbeaten in their last four games and head into the game in boisterous mood after picking an away win against Remo Stars in midweek.
Enyimba have struggled on the road this season and have earned one point from three away games.
Also on Sunday, Lobi Stars will entertain Katsina United at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.
The home side beat Wikki Tourists 2-0 in their last home game, while Katsina United will be motivated to secure maximum points in the game following a promise of N200, 000 winning bonus per player by the club chairman.
Troubled Sunshine Stars who lost their last home game 1-0 against MFM FC will tackle ABS FC in Akure.
The players shunned training on Friday to protest the non-payment of their five-month salaries.
The visitors who beat MFM on Thursday will look to take advantage of the crisis and secure another win.
In Maiduguri, El-Kanemi Warriors and Gombe United will slug it out in an all-Northern affair, while Nasarawa United will clash with Abia Warriors in Lafia.
