The National Sports Commission (NSC) has backed the decision of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation to accept the majority decision of its Elections Appeals Committee.
A statement sent out on Friday by Patrick Omorodion, the Special Assistant to the Minister of Sports, reads on part:
” The National Sports Commission, NSC, has noted the conflicting reports of the Nigeria Football Federation, Appeals Committee, on the cases brought before it by some contestants of the September 30, 2014 election of the football body held in Warri, Delta State.
” However, the NSC management in a statement said the Commission will accept the majority decision of the Appeals Committee which threw out the petitions against the election and upheld the election of Amaju Pinnick and other members of the NFF Board.
” The NSC will accept the majority decision of the Appeals Committee because it is the civilized judicial norm and we must not be seen to apply it the other way round with a minority report holding sway, the statement read.
By this position, the NSC recognizes the election of the Amaju Pinnick-led Board as it urges all football stakeholders to support the Board in its bid to reposition football in the country.
