Nwakaeme Joins Trabzonspor On Two-Year Deal From Hapoel Be’er Sheva

By Adeboye Amosu:

Nigerian forward, Anthony Nwakaeme, has finally completed his move to Turkish outfit, Trabzonspor from Israeli side, Hapoel Be’er Sheva, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Nwakaeme, 29, penned a two-year contract with Trabzonspor with the option of another year.

The striker is highly delighted to make the switch from Hapoel Be’er Sheva and is looking forward to having a great time with his new club.

”Thank you very much for giving me the chance to play here. I feel very happy to be here, to be part of this team. I see that the team has a great ambition to be successful,” Nwakaeme told the club’s official website.

“This situation is very motivating for me as a player. The atmosphere I saw in the first game was great, the fans were great, everything was very good. I saw them as very good people, really everything was perfect. ”

At 29 probably have left it late but it’s never too late.
A proven attacker in Israel but yet to prove his mettle in a bigger stage. The question is can we describe tranzospur as a big club?my answer is a top club in turkey though not in the top three which fenerbahce,Galatasaray and Besiktas share. However,an upgrade from Israel so we describe this move as a success.
Meanwhile,a good season could give him a second chance with the super eagles. My advice to this placid player is to up his game and move to a top club in western Europe next season because that is the level he needs to cement a place in the super eagles.Hey!! what is your compatriot John Agu still doing in Israel?? beats my imagination ha.
Wishing you guys a good season.
God bless you and God bless Nigeria.

  • Anthony Nwakaeme: Another Eagles’ invitation on the cards?

Just about a year ago, Nwakaeme’s audacious blast against Maribor in a Champions League qualifier drew the attention of England legend Gary Lineker who uploaded the video on twitter and said: ” Check out this screamer from Hapoel Beer Sheva’s Anthony Nwakaeme”.

That strike also contributed to his national team invitation shortly afterwards for matches against Cameroon – Nwakaeme would not make Nigeria’s final world cup squad.

The one-time “best player in the Israeli league” is yet to convince many that he is truly a player of national team calibre.

This move to Turkey is surely a step in the right direction for the Lagos born winger who will be hoping to add to his solo cap for the Super Eagles in months to come.

However, the quality and raw pace available to Nigeria at the moment down the flanks, it will be interesting to see who Nwakaeme would be able to displace.

  • Nwakaeme is currently our third most in form striker behind Onyekuru and Akinyemi.
It would be fantastic to see all three up close with Ahmed Musa against Seychelles on a match we are expected to win.
Nwakaeme plays closely with John Oguh so should be successful if given a chance against easy competition.
Moving to Turkey is a step up in calibre, let’s see how he performs

  • From Israel to Turkey and back to the Super Eagles?

  • Turkey has become the Mecca, football destination of Nigeria players with the arrival of Anthony Nwakeme, former Israeli league best player.
Anthony’s move to Tranzaspor is expected to open his Super Eagles opportunity.

In recent years, the TURKISH league has attracted national team players like Onazi,Agu, Ekong, Onyekuru.

  • I just hope people won’t start clamouring for Anthony’s inclusion to the Super Eagles bearing in mind his VERY POOR DISPLAY against Algeria last year where he was given the Golden opportunity but fumbled.

I am very glad that Tony Nwakaeme has gone to the beautiful city of Trabzon. Nobody moves from Israel to Turkey if they were not quality. The striker positions in Nigeria are not easy, and age may not be on his side. But you cannot keep a good man down, and if his career with Trabzonspor picks up, anything is possible.
