Former Super Eagles defender Chidi Nwanu has said the Nigeria Football Federation took Nigerian football three steps backwards after the body agreed to hire Sunday Oliseh as national team manager.
In an exclusive chat with Completesportsnigeria.com on Sunday, the former Beveren FC of Belgium defender stated that the NFF goofed in appointing Oliseh, who was his Super Eagles teammate.
“The worst mistake was made by the NFF for bringing someone without experience to destroy the labours of our heroes past,” 1994 World Cup star Nwanu said.
“As real as feelings could be, it’s never real. How could you employ a coach by feeling, without results?
“I voiced out against the appointment of Oliseh but I was seen as a one who didn’t like the progress of Nigeria’s football.”
A lone strike from Egypt’s Radwan Sobhi ended the Super Eagles dreams of qualifying for AFCON 2017 as the Nigerian side lost 1-0 to the Pharaohs in Alexandria.
Sobhi’s shot in the 65th minute of the tie earned Egypt an unassailable seven points, leaving Nigeria with only two points in Group G of the qualifying campaign.
